Surveillance footage captures assault and confrontation
The attack occurred at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday on Calle 119, along the boundary between Supermanzana 100 and Supermanzana 119. Local outlets described the girl as approximately 16 and said she was wearing a school uniform and using her phone while walking in Cancún's Región 100.
Recordings from nearby homes show her walking alone with a backpack as a man follows closely behind. He is wearing a white polo shirt, dark pants and a light-colored baseball cap. With no one else on the sidewalk, he approaches her from behind and touches her without consent.
She immediately turns to confront him verbally, pointing at his face and holding up her phone to record him at close range. He turns away, first walking quickly and then running down the sidewalk.
Search follows circulation of the video
Quintana Roo Hoy and other local outlets shared the recordings to help identify the man. After the footage circulated on TikTok and Instagram, residents located his home. He and his family reportedly left the property soon afterward.
The Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo said it opened a formal case file, known as a carpeta de investigación, to establish what happened and locate the suspect. Pedro Canché Noticias reported that he remained officially unidentified as of November 5, 2026.
State authorities and local citizen watch groups are asking people with reliable information about his location to pass it directly to police or emergency services.
