Expansion at two locations

Reynosa would gain 400 jobs under the plan, while Nuevo Laredo would add 250. AMETEK already employs 2,600 people in Reynosa, according to a state government press release.

Flores Garza made the announcement while visiting the company's Reynosa facilities, where she discussed the two projects with AMETEK representatives.

AMETEK manufactures precision components and provides technology solutions for industries including medical, aerospace, and semiconductors. A company job posting dated November 6, 2026, identifies its GSP Reynosa manufacturing facility as part of the Engineered Interconnects & Packaging business unit. Production there includes plating lines, machine shop operations, and glass-to-metal seal (GTMS) processes.

State support and project discussions

Flores Garza said AMETEK's choice reflected confidence in the state's workers and its capacity for specialized manufacturing. She said the administration of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya is helping companies pursue investments and expansions through project assistance and closer coordination with the private sector, with the aim of creating opportunities for communities throughout Tamaulipas.

Government officials said they expect the projects to increase industrial activity in both cities and expand the state's role in high-value-added production chains.

The AMETEK delegation included Property Security Manager Rogelio Arteaga, Finance Director Josué Olave, and Finance and Insurance Manager Paula Carrillo. Also present was Ángel Ortiz Salazar, who represents the McAllen Economic Development Corporation in Mexico.

Participants from Mexico's Ministry of Economy were Gladis Guerrero, director of industry services; Brianda García, head of the Investment Project Monitoring Department; and José Stolberg, head of the Clusters Department.

Reynosa leads the state's investment project count

The Rio Grande Valley Business Journal reported on September 23, 2026, that Tamaulipas had identified 173 confirmed investment projects from October 2022 through June 10, 2026. Together, those projects represented announced investment of US$20.9 billion and 58,515 jobs.

Reynosa accounted for 55 projects, or 32% of the statewide count. Altamira followed with 33, ahead of Nuevo Laredo's 27 and Matamoros' 26.

The report also put foreign direct investment in Tamaulipas through the second quarter of 2026 at US$411.7 million. Of that amount, US$270.4 million, or 65.7%, went to manufacturing.

AMETEK's global business and quarterly results

AMETEK, Inc., which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under AME, describes its business as providing industrial technology solutions globally, with approximately US$9.0 billion in annualized sales. Its November 3, 2026, third-quarter results release and careers site place its workforce at about 22,000 people across 35 countries. For the third quarter of 2026, AMETEK reported record sales of US$2.22 billion, a 17% increase from a year earlier. On November 3, it raised its full-year adjusted earnings forecast to US$8.53 to US$8.57 per diluted share from US$8.20 to US$8.30.
