Ye sets March 2027 concert at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca

Ye is scheduled to headline Mexico City's Estadio Azteca, now officially named Estadio Banorte, on March 19, 2027. The concert will bring him back to the capital about 14 months after two sold-out shows at its main bullring.

Ticket details still to come

The American rapper and designer formerly known as Kanye West announced the concert through his official stadium-tour account on Nov. 3, alongside promoter Five One Five Entertainment. It is his only announced Mexican date so far.

Mexican outlet MXC reports that the event is billed as "Ye Live in Mexico." Fans can register on the concert's website for early ticket access, but prices, presale dates and the general sale date have not yet been announced.

A return after January's bullring shows

The March booking follows Ye's Jan. 30 and 31, 2026, concerts at Plaza de Toros México. Those performances ended an absence of more than 17 years from Mexican stages, and the first sold out in under 12 hours. Organizers projected combined attendance of more than 74,000 for the two nights, which also featured an onstage appearance by his daughter North West.

Ye has continued performing at stadiums in the United States and overseas throughout 2026. After headlining a Halloween show in Houston on Oct. 31, he is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium on Nov. 7.

These large-venue performances have helped rebuild his income. Concerts became a major revenue source after Adidas AG terminated its Yeezy sneaker partnership with him in October 2022 because of his antisemitic remarks. That partnership had represented most of his wealth; losing it also ended his billionaire status.

Now 49, Ye first gained prominence producing for Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records. His debut album, "The College Dropout," followed in 2004, and he has earned 24 Grammy Awards. He retains ownership of Yeezy, whose clothing and footwear are now sold directly to customers.

The stadium's renovation and naming deal

Mexico's largest stadium underwent a 2024–2026 renovation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to AS USA, the work increased its seating capacity from roughly 83,000 to about 87,500. It reopened on March 28, 2026, with a friendly match between Mexico and Portugal.

The Banorte name came with renovation financing from the Mexican banking group. AS USA reports that Banorte provided about 2.1 billion pesos, roughly $115 million, on the condition that the stadium use its name for 12 years.

The venue subsequently hosted five matches at the 2026 World Cup. AS USA and the Mexico City government tourism site identify it as the only stadium to have hosted three editions of the tournament, following its roles in 1970 and 1986.

For the 2026 tournament, FIFA used "Mexico City Stadium" on its official materials and tickets under its standardized city-name policy. AS USA notes that this temporary designation did not replace the stadium's official Banorte name.

Decades of sports and music

Opened in 1966, the stadium was designed by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and Rafael Mijares. The Mexico City government tourism site describes their design as an attempt to evoke the volcanoes around the Valley of Mexico.

Its concert history includes performances by U2, Paul McCartney, Bad Bunny and Shakira. Michael Jackson's five sold-out shows in 1993 established a cumulative attendance record that still stands, according to the tourism site. More recently, Karol G filled the venue for three consecutive nights in 2024.
